I’ve had some modest success (I actually made some money some days) with dating on PoF so far but I’ve been wanting to test the international waters for a while so I figured to give it a shot. I’m sticking with english speaking countries for now so I’m targeting the UK, Australia and Ireland. I’ve got one campaign for each country and 5-19 ads (all using the same ad copy for now) for now.
I’m keeping all campaigns tightly targeted, Login count < 50, Session Depth < 20 and Ads Clicked != 20 etc.
I am targeting a specific niche but I’m with a broad range of ages (25-40). I figure this should give me some decent traffic to work with. If I just do not get enough traffic, I’ll loosen up on some targeting to get more views.
So after running this for just under two days here are my stats.
My Australian campaign: spent – $4.46 | made – $17.55
My UK campaign: spent – $53.29 | made – $23.51
My Ireland campaign: spent – $7.97 | made – $4.39
My Aussie campaign is extremely profitable right now but I just can’t get the traffic! I plan on loosening up on some of targeting criteria to get more traffic and then add a new campaign targeting males (i’m only currently targeting females) to see if I can get similar success.
My Ireland campaign gets even less traffic than my Australian campaign does. I’m going to loosen up some of my targeting criteria to see if I can get more impressions. My gut tells me I might not be able to so I’m going to try catering to the other gender to see if I can get more impressions from them. If not, I may have to dump this campaign for Ireland altogether.
My UK campaign gets good traffic, but i’m just loosing too much money on it currently. The traffic I’m getting tells me that I may just have to step my game up here and get better CTR on the ads I do have. I plan on rotating in some new images and I’ll make them stand out but doing some tricks that have been successful for me in the past. I’ll probably give the larger banners a shot too.
An interesting observation I made is that some images and ad copies could kill in one country and totally tank in another. I should probably track what images and ad copies work well and where they work well at.
Are you running dating? Is it niche or broad angles? Some more info would be nice
Definitely. This specific campaign was suggested to me so I don’t want to out it by name, but I will say it’s a single parent dating offer. Also, I’m just direct linking to the offer currently. I’m going to stick with targeting females only until I can get something profitable enough that I can leave it alone for a few days. Once I get the females down, I’m going to target the males.
Now while the offer I’m using is kind of a niche offer, I’m still toying with the idea of making it even more niche. Something like "Find black single parents" or "Find christian single parents" for example. If I do go this route, I anticipate having throwing some landing pages together to split test against direct linking.
I’ve got some new creatives set to go up soon that target the UK and Ireland and I’m anxious to see how they perform. The traffic is there in the UK it seems. I just need to find the right combo. I’m going to be keeping a close eye on the POF conversion reports (I have placed pixels for all of these) to see if I can begin to see some trends as to what attributes are converting. I’ll post my progress as I go.
Going that niche will really lower your volume though. So test that out before you make a ton of creatives.
