I have about 5 vm’s setup on my mac working perfectly – I can drag and drop files fine.
I have made another 2 and for some reason I cant copy/paste or drag files over to it.
Any ideas – I’ve tried googling but can’t seem to get a fix for it and it’s doing my nut in.
I would imagine you have to install some kinda guest extension…..like you do with VB
Check in your settings to see whether drag & drop is enabled, probably under guest isolation if it exists as a tab in the mac version. Otherwise you need to make sure VMware tools is installed on each OS you’re running as a VM. It usually installs when you first install the operating system but maybe it didn’t for 2 of them? I’m sure there is an install VMware tools shortcut or link somewhere.
After browsing around this seems to be the issue, the VMware tools havent been installed – I remember on my others they auto installed but for some reason there not anymore.
Will try find that link and install them separately.
– Just to note checking the files etc it hasn’t installed anything to do with VMware onto the machine for some reason.
Vm tools consists of some drivers to enable some of the features of a VM
Cheers for the link, the problem is that on the OS there isn’t anything related to the vmware software itself so I don’t have the setup.exe to install it as the video shows. I’m trying to create another one to see if that helps, maybe just glitched for those 2.
@rich : there is alternative : virtualbox, i prefer virtualbox as less bloated
Yeah I could look into alternatives but I would have liked to just have them all in the one place etc
Just found out what the issue was, I had upgraded to 4.1.1 and tried reverting back to 4.0.2 and works fine :S no idea why
