Before you post, be aware that I’ve seen most of the classics (anything Romero made, Lucio Fulci’s classic Zombi, Serpent and the Rainbow, etc.) and a good handful of the modern zombie films (28 days/weeks later, Pontypool, etc).
What I want you guys to do is fill me in on low budget zombie films, indie zombie films, foreign zombie films, and zombie films I may not have heard of.
Thank you. As you were.
Here are some of my favorite off-the-beaten-path zombie movies. Both are on the funny side.
- Dead Snow
You might also like "The Horde" if you haven’t seen it. Not funny at all.
Saw Fido, loved it. Can’t recall if I saw Dead Snow. I’ll have to google that. Definitely haven’t seen The Horde. I’m guessing if I can find it on amazon instant video, that’s what I’ll be watching tonight.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Not quite a zombie movie, but you should also check out "Severance" if you like the horror/comedy genre.
Man, I saw Zombieland in theaters the night it came out. That movie was hilarious.
sounds like you like a lot of the 80’s classics, like myself..
you could try these if you havent seen them already:
* dawn of the mummy (flesh eating mummies instead of zombies, same thing though)
* dead alive
* black demons (actually called demons, they are really zombies though)
* demons & demons 2
* the beyond
* cemetery man
* zombie holocaust ( cannibals vs zombies vs humans = goodtimes)
i have tons more to list if these are already seen by you, these are all 80’s foreign gore flicks
Bring em on man! I’ve seen Dead Alive (naturally) and Cemetery Man, but the rest are new to me. I’ll have to check them out.
If any of you guys haven’t seen Pontypool, watch it. It’s an interesting take on the genre. And it stars Canadians!
ok heres a few more:
the return of the living dead (parts 1 thru 5)
the video dead
re-animator (parts 1-3)
the dead next door
children shouldnt play with dead things
all classics, i love the older stuff so much more than the crap that comes out today
and if you like the cannibal movies, i know lots of those also. they are similar to zombie movies except the are not dead, but they rip guts out and everything else so they are pretty similar except a LOT more extreme and nasty
The 6 episode Walking Dead series on AMC was pretty decent. They are doing a second season starting in October.
Unrelated to zombies but another current show I’m watching is Breaking Bad. Also can’t wait for Dexter to start again.
Junk (Director: muroga atsushi). Asian zombie movie.
i forgot to add these to the list
the dead hate the living
dead and breakfast
shaun of the dead
Walking Dead was a cool show except for the love triangle. I didn’t feel like it was necessary. But I’m def looking forward to it coming back.
Reanimator is one of my favorite films of all time, I need to rewatch that. I got the special edition re-release of the DVD that came with the glowing "syringe" highlighter. That shit was boss. One of my ex’s got it for me for xmas, only thing she ever got right in her life. 😛
I’ll have to check out the rest of the ones on that list. Fairly sure I’ve seen most, if not all, of the Return of the Living Dead ones, but they’re probably worth a re-watch. I have vague memories from my childhood of a dude and his gf on a motorcycle, they crash, he takes her to his dad’s job (military science thing) and jams her in a barrel that turns her into a zombie. Wacky shit. That’s the movie series you’re talking about, yeah?
Also, Shawn of the Dead is one of my favorite comedy zombie movies. That should be the master’s class in funny zombie films.
yes, that sounds like return of the living dead part 3.
i like watch zombie too.
Just finished watching S01 of Walking Dead plus S02E1. They’re doing a good job on the series.
Yeah, I thought season one dragged a little at the end but season two started strong so far. Good show either way.
tonites episode was kinda slow, barely any action at all, nor any major plot revelations.
i still love the show though. hope it picks up the pace again next week
Have you seen Bad Taste? Not really Zombies, but still pretty funny https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092610/
i love bad taste, i like all peter jacksons older movies.. meet the feebles is funny. not really horror, but its twisted funny. its all muppets
if you like bad taste, check out "Evil Aliens" that movie is funny and pretty similar
