I’m just going through caurmens Getting started tutorial. Great stuff!
Anyways, I have a question…
I said in my introduction, that I’m aware of some pretty good dating offers here in Finland. Many of them had a conversion rate of around 10%, which I think is good.
So, what I’m thinking right now is this: where should I buy traffic from? I’m currently thinking of either Facebook or POF.
Second question I have is about landing pages. I’m wondering if I should just get people on my dating site, where I’m displaying these ads, or on a standalone landing page?
Oh and third question! I was thinking of getting Lead Pages in order to create these landing pages for myself (biggest reason would be to host them at their servers). Now I’m reading this might be a mistake?
I used to have a sturdy dedicated server for EVIL black hat SEO purposes, but naturally I let that go as I stopped SEO. Should I now get another VPS for my landing pages?
You can’t safely run dating on Facebook – it is essentially banned.
PoF won’t have much Finnish volume, so not sure where the best place to go for this is.
As for your landing page question, can you elaborate? Do you have a dating site already (of what nature?) that you monetise with banners?
For a normal campaign you should make a standalone page rather than trying to bend a preexisting site to your new campaign angle/offer/etc.
I can’t recommend Lead Pages. Better to make a lander yourself and host on a CDN.
A VPS is great and handy for a number of reasons. However, if you are using a lander that has no PHP elements then you can get away with using <a href='https://stackthatmoney.com/voluum' rel="nofollow" target='_blank' onmouseout='UnTip()' onclick="Tip('
‘, BGCOLOR, ‘#DDDDDD’, BORDERCOLOR, ‘#000000’, BORDERWIDTH, ‘1’, WIDTH, ‘-500’, TITLE, ‘Voluum’, SHADOW, ”,FOLLOWMOUSE, 0, OPACITY, ’95’, FADEIN, ‘300’, FADEOUT, ‘300’, CLICKCLOSE, true,FOLLOWSCROLL, true,CLOSEBTN, true, PADDING, 0)” style=”font-style:Normal;text-decoration:None;text-transform:None;font-size:100%;”>voluum + lander on a CDN. When you need PHP and other server-based tech you can use your VPS, or if you want to run a self-hosted tracker.
Yes, I have a dating site, that I have been monetizing essentially with CPA banners (there’s pretty much 2 offers that make up all the profits). It’s a general dating site, and I’ve taken the adult ones down from there. I do have another adult dating site as well, which is getting a little bit of traffic from the watermarked videos I mass-uploaded to several tubes.
Okay, cool. I’ll go with a standalone page.
All right, so let’s say Lead Pages is out. I saw somewhere, that it would be okay to just get a domain and then put some landers there, like maybe superduperdating.com, and then I would have different landers based on campaigns like superduperdating.com/lander1, superduperdating.com/lander2. Is this how people do it? I can install WordPress without problems, so I was thinking maybe using something like WP Profit Builder or something to generate the landing pages. Is this a good strategy?
So, seems like <a href='https://stackthatmoney.com/voluum' rel="nofollow" target='_blank' onmouseout='UnTip()' onclick="Tip('
‘, BGCOLOR, ‘#DDDDDD’, BORDERCOLOR, ‘#000000’, BORDERWIDTH, ‘1’, WIDTH, ‘-500’, TITLE, ‘Voluum’, SHADOW, ”,FOLLOWMOUSE, 0, OPACITY, ’95’, FADEIN, ‘300’, FADEOUT, ‘300’, CLICKCLOSE, true,FOLLOWSCROLL, true,CLOSEBTN, true, PADDING, 0)” style=”font-style:Normal;text-decoration:None;text-transform:None;font-size:100%;”>voluum is free right up until 100,000 clicks. I think I’ll go with that one for now.
Man, there’s so much to take in! I’ve spent all day here and my brain is steaming! Can’t wait to put some of this stuff into action.
PS: Yeah, I just noticed that POF and Facebook are pretty much out of the question for me for now. I’ll probably go with either gaming on Facebook or adult. We’ll see…
I would also steer clear of WordPress. Performance-wise it is generally terrible. Even with caching and tweaking it will not be as fast as a simple lander you have built with e.g. Muse and WP brings with it the never ending threat of security holes.
Regarding domains, yes, just buy a generic one. You can then point it to your server or a CDN container of yours and host the landers there.
Not sure why PoF is out of the question? Is your general dating site too risque? In any case, Facebook is definitely out for anything resembling dating.
Ah, that’s very interesting!
So, I know some people grumbled about Lead Pages here earlier on… But I believe you can export the sites you’ve built into HTML files from there? Might it be possible to use LP and then export those landers to HTML and then host them somewhere? I’m no web designer so I definitely wouldn’t want to start messing around with HTML if I can avoid it at all.
I do have the Adobe Creative Cloud, though, so I can use the Muse (or Dreamweaver), if need be. I just want the creation of landing pages be as effortless as possible (and I don’t really mind tapping into tested and proven winners, if at all possible). Are there some good templates outside Lead Pages then?
With POF I simply mean that since they won’t be serving ads in Finland, I can’t show Finnish ads for these people (I’d like to test out couple of proven offers here first). Later on of course, I’m most likely going to jump into POF as well.
Hmm, trying to avoid HTML when getting into AM is not a good mindset.
You need to understand the fundamentals, how to place tracking scripts and change out links and so on, so it’s not something you should remain ignorant of.
I’m not sure what LeadPages offers in terms of exporting, you’d have to check it out or ask someone who uses it. If they can export HTML that’s great. I guess in the end you could always save the landing page if they only host it themselves.
Landing pages are a very important creative part of AM and you should put time, effort and thought into them. If you are looking for something as effortless as possible, it’s not affiliate marketing.
Taking pre-made templates from wherever you find them is simply not going to work. You can swipe landing pages you find in the wild from other affiliate marketers, but this industry rewards creativity and originality – you will need to make new banners, new LPs, generate new ideas and think outside the box, or you will never make it in AM.
P.S. oh yeah, Finland, yep, PoF is out haha.
Yes, I was just going through Finch’s Premium Posts, and he also had some kind of PHP countdown thingy on his landing page, so I probably need to ditch the mindset about templates.
All right! If I need to work with HTML to make it work, so be it!
So, is Muse all the craze here? I’m still no web developer, so I’m trying to find ways for me to not get stuck in the web design phase of it all
And how DO people create their landing pages? Everyone’s probably got their own little templates and stuff, but how do I get started? I think a friend of mine has the LP subscription. I’ll just login, do a simple landing page and see if I can export it somehow.
Is there a problem using CSS in landing pages? Or should they be all HTML?
STM has quite a lot of LPs you can dissect and experiment with:
Thanks a LOT for those @qureyoon!
I’m just going through the Muse tutorials, and jump into those as soon as I’m done
