So, I’ll be in NYC for the first time. Surprisingly I’ve never been there, and I live in the US, but the west side. Anyone have any good recommendations of places I should check out? I also want to take an awesome shot of the city, what buildings do you recommend I go on to do that from? I know Empire State Building is one of them.
Also, if anyone is game to meet up for a drink hit me up on skype: victor.zdor
If you’re looking to get a shot of the city go up 30 rock instead, the view from the boat out around the statue of liberty is good for a snap as well
Head up to the top of rockefeller center to get a shot with the empire state in it. Definitely check out the world trade memorial, central park, times square and the usual. For statue of liberty look into the staten island ferry – its about an hour round trip to staten island and back but its free and goes right pass the statue in both directions…good photo ops.
I have some good hole in the wall places if your interested in some good food/drink.
What area are you staying in – might have some more suggestions.
Im about ~20min drive from the city, might be up to grab some drinks.
If you’re doing any type of professional landscape panoramic of the city, the next best thing after a helicopter ride is going to Long Island City in Queens near the Coca Cola sign to take a picture of Manhattan. You don’t get the best pictures of Manhattan while being in Manhattan, you gotta cross the river. There’s a bunch of vantage points, but I think that’s probably the easiest one to get to for someone who hasn’t been in the city before.
Thanks man. Is it pretty much open to the public then?
Thanks Tim. Who do I do the helicopter ride with? NYAIR? I saw them on Instagram, but it seems they do mostly commercial stuff.
We are staying at a pretty nice place in Brooklyn, got the place through AirBnb, figured I would rather get a nice place than a hotel. I really want to do the statue of liberty for sure. Do you have a website for me to take a look at the ferry times. I found one, but it seems you pay for ferry and to get on top of the statue. I don’t think I want to get inside, unless it’s actually worth it?
Also, any food places I should check out? Even though we are staying in Brooklyn, I’m expecting to spend most my time in NYC. Is there anything touristy in Brooklyn?
Tim Tetra was telling me about an amazing sushi place, i’d check it out, i don’t know the name but it’s prob the most famous in nyc.
Guggenheim is there!
Lots of good speakeasy bars that an adventure to find hidden amongst the corners of NY
