After dabbling in various markets with limited success,
I’ve decided to get involved in gaming. I play a lot of
PC Games myself and am very well versed in the market,
which should help.
I’m doing PPV, and so far I’ve tested 5 different offers
without a single conversion. 1200-1900 clicks rotated
evenly between the offers in CPVLab.
My plan was to direct link until I’ve at least seen a
conversion or two from one of the offers, and then I
could try it with landers and various angles etc.
But I’m getting no conversions at all.
If anybody could suggest an offer with a reputation
for converting well, I would appreciate it – or any other
tips you guys may have.
I didn’t have much luck with small attempts at gaming on ZeroPark with both domain redirect and PPV traffic…
But then I couldn’t target specific URLs so the audience is less defined.
Simple landers are the way to go, particularly ones with a striking backround/characters staring at you.
I attempted Tynon, which had a tonne of landers to split test, and my AM said it was doing well for them on PPV targeting LoL-related sites.
If you really want to get into gaming I would focus on FB, mobile and desktop display traffic as they all have particular advantages.
FB has deep targeting on a whole other level to virtually every traffic source out there.
Mobile is mobile.
Display = lots of room for rich creatives, it’s obvious to try and advertise PC games to people on desktop PCs, and many networks (e.g. iQU) flat out allow display for everything = any offer that comes up, likely can be run on RTB display/media buys without hassles.
As a brilliant ad copy writer you should take a crack at converting people on Clickbank gaming guides on FB – not sure if it will work well but there are some obscenely large audiences to convert there (e.g. Elder Scrolls Online, League of Legends, etc.). I tried a LoL guide but I think I needed to really create my own sales page and bridge straight to the order form – clicks to the CB offer had a very low order form impression %!
Yeah, very good point on the gaming guides.
You’ll need a larger budget to test, because they all have quite high payouts, but many of them convert very well to the right audience, and have nice recurring subs or upsells.
However, the targeting will need to be tight. I’ve done very well with gaming guides on well-targeted campaigns, but less well on anything broader.
You sir, deserve some type of award for this amazingly helpful post.
Thank you, I appreciate your time.
I will move on to FB at some point. It’s definitely in my plans, but for now I want to make PPV stick.
I started out with Bing, did okay but had to quit because of Bing restricting my account, and moved to POF but didn’t like it at all, and didn’t get close to profit.
I moved to PPV because I quite enjoy it, and I definitely enjoy the lack of moving parts, so I want to stick with it until I feel like I’ve mastered it at least a little bit. Otherwise I’m setting a dangerous precedent for myself by being one of those people who jumps from traffic source to traffic source and never goes deep enough to get profitable in any of them.
Time to knuckle down and make this one stick
i LOVE this gaming guides idea. I’d prefer to stick with lower payouts so I can get data faster at the moment, but holy shit gaming guides are a great idea.
Very glad you guys brought it up, so thank you both!
