If you’re hiring a mobile landing page developer, what skills do you look for? (Jquery mobile, css5, html)?
Also, what tools do you use to show them what you want? Do you draw something up in paint, photoshop, write it up and camera send it?
Just looking for ideas on getting an efficient way to have developers build landers for mobile.
Look up Balsamiq. It’s a mockup web app that lets you just draw what you want in simple shapes. I love it.
Balsamiq is awesome. I’ve been using it in real time speccing out features for Zen recently, and it kicks ass – super-fast.
I know quite a lot of people draw the lander in photoshop then send it to be converted – if you’ve got the ‘shop skills, that’s a good way to get things done with minimal cost.
I generally send them PS files where everything is in layers.
As for skills, you need to look for html5 / css / jquery or similiar ( zepto.js ) / mobile responsive coding techniques.
Easiest way to go around that would be sending them the PSD file. considering you’re looking for a developer only, and not a designer.
As for planning, i suggest sending detailed wireframes for each and every page! and i mean every small detail should go in there. Definitely going to save time on revisions.
You can even draw the pages on a word doc. simple as that.
I usually use https://gomockingbird.com/ for wire framing.
Each and every fucking page! headlines, bullets, buttons etc.
I’m currently doing this with someone in real life. I’ve just been sitting down with them and going over angles/concepts/showing landing pages that i’ve made/currently exist.
Here’s my current process:
– We’ve come up with general templates for the types of campaigns we’re running (this is the main step)
– We then brainstorm angles/copy for our own campaigns, then narrow them down and remove a few
– Then we match the angles to 1 of the templates from the template page
– He then creates the pages
It’s only been 1 week, and within 45 days i know he’ll be making pages just as good as i can.
Adobe Fireworks might be something to try out…
I use the gold old…
I’m only quoting this because this was new thing i was doing. It’s been a few weeks now and its working REALLY well. I will probably only work locally from now on.
