What dog breed do you AM’ers own? Why did you choose such a Breed?
I was looking into a v.d. HessenVilla but most sites out there are in German language. Anyone also know much about this particular breed?
Have 2 yorkshire terriers and 1 golden retriever
My first and only dog was an Irish Setter, I didn’t have a choice, I was 5. It was forced into my life. Haha was cool though.
Sorry dont know anything about Hessen’s
I have had many different breeds: cocker, beagle, bergamasco shepherd (it’s like a Komondor but understands italian lol)
My last dog is a Bernese. Never seen a dog so smart and faithful before.
re: v.d. HessenVilla
as far as I can tell .. it’s not a dog breed ..looks like a breeder ..it’s the kennel’s name ..mostly Boston terriers and Great Danes
Slightly veering off topic, but we have an all white Pomeranian.. don’t judge me!
But yea, "rescued" it from a friend that was never home. The Pom is chill, not yippy like the stereotype would suggest. He acts like a cat; chills on the back of our couches and wants to sit in your lap most of the time. Much better dog than I was expecting, haha. (I wanted a GSD or Staffie, but no regrets at all!)
Gamble you got lucky. Off topic too..
I picked mine up from the shelter she was sweet and calm. After a day or two and back from the Vet, found out she was sick. I cooked up good human food and raised her back to health after about 2 weeks time. Turns out she is still sweet and all but damn that energy is so high. Way higher than most dogs (she is a pitbull mix with australian cattle dog) 35 pounds only and when she pounces she can knock a 106 lb girl over. So I started to yell at her and buy her toys and started tugging rope with her and to my surprise was a bad idea. She got aggressively playful and nipped me on my tummy. Now I gotta get that high energy out of her. I have been running with her 30 min to 45 min non stop and that seems to work. Next day, she will sleep all day haha. I got tired out though after 3 days of it and now I’m just walking her for 30min to an hour.
An idea of mine was getting another high energy older dog (she is 2 years old) so she can have a buddy to get that energy out while playing together. I do this because all day she wines and cries alot when I’m inside (she’s an outside dog only). And thus she is very needy and lonely dog. What to do…
We have had all sorts of dogs in/around the family since I was five years old or so. Right now I’m dogless but looking at getting a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Doberman pair for hunting mountain lions with. My only advice is to make sure you have enough time to spend with them every day if you get a working dog. I’m kind of hesitating until I get to a place with more acerage where they can run around by themselves and not scare anyone. Also I hate picking up dog shit when I live in town and have to take them for a walk :]
thats ours. mini australian labradoodle.
very unique dog and interesting personality to say the least.
highly intelligent and a MEGA Poon magnet.
Nice haha, I got a Spoodle! Black with a white belly like a skunk lol, I agree very intelligent, cheeky, friendly and poon magnet x 10 hahaha!
Tommy, are you in a nice farm environment? That is pretty cool. I’m in the suburbs of Los Angeles. That is so cool hunting mountain lions. Do you guys make some lion steak
Here’s my crazy chicken killing beast:
Haha I grew up on a farm for a large part of my childhood so I can go back home and hunt pretty much whenever I want, we still have a few thousand acres of farmland that we lease out to the local farmers to harvest. I also know quite a few people in the area so I have access to their lands as well. Right now I live in a decent sized metro area but I live right on the edge of town, it is literally a two minute walk and then nothing but wilderness for a good 30-40 miles.
Some of the toys on the list are IR and NVG scopes so I can go hunting coyotes in the middle of the night ;]
haha very nice. only thing i can find to hunt are squirrels and lizards or birds lol
Got a Cavalier King Charles. Amazing personalities. Love kids and easy to take care of.
Schnoodle… schnauzer/poodle cross. She likes to bark and run at bears, even though she weighs 25 pounds and is 12 years old.
Tomorrow, I am taking my dog back to the shelter.
