Anybody used the Word Lens app?
It’s an augmented reality translator. You point your camera at text and it translates it on the spot, in real-time.
It even matches the font of the target text.
It still has a few kinks but I can’t remember the last time an app blew my mind for ingenuity like this. Amazing technology, and potentially very useful if you are travelling abroad.
It’s a free app, no Internet required. Check it out!
Realtime translation is really coming on. I saw today that Microsoft have been demoing realtime voice translation – very impressive stuff.
The Google Translate App for Android has had a camera input feature for awhile.
Definitely a lifesaver if you are ever in a country where you don’t even know the alphabet.
I remember having this, and was amazed by the technology. But I never got round to using it passed the novelty.
I think I’ll revisit it since I moved to a country where I don’t speak the language.
yeah ive used that before, but IMO it wasnt that great
curious what this app is like
The translations themselves were excellent, but the main downside was that you always needed to have an Internet connection.
