I was just playing around on Namecheap and there are a TON of new TLD’s since I last looked. Since they’re new, you can get lots of great keyword domains but I’m wondering if it would work.
Say for example, I got lcdtv.deals – would this help me rank based on the fact that it’s a short keyword rich domain? Or do you think Google will treat these differently (inferior to .com, etc.). Just thinking out loud – I know some guys who are buying some as investments. What say the SEO people?

You will find that .com will always be the dominant domain extension. The bad news is that in the past couple of years Google has made sure that exact match domains aren’t as big as much as a ranking factor as they were. I think you will find it just as hard to rank random-domain-name.com as it is to rank lcdtv.deals

As we saw with other CCTLDs, Google hasn’t given domain’s on these much clout, either due to very few legitimate businesses using them yet or otherwise. I’m still waiting to see a .XXX domain rank for any adult term in the Google SERPs.
