recently I’ve been focusing more and more on building the organic income part of my business.
I’ve since had the idea to build a website around a really specific niche and drive traffic from FB & google, (initially paying for ad space), and eventually bring in traffic from mainly Google.
My question is,
Say I want to build a site around ‘funny dragon ball z posters’ and I have the domain, www.funnydragonballzposters.com available to me, (pretend there’ll be no trademark issues).
How would you, (anyone experienced with SEO/building an authority site), go about building a site around this?
The ultimate goal is to get sales from the ‘store’ page and get people to sign up to my list.
Any input would be gold

Whelp….there’s a ton of different ways to go about this…I’m sure others do things differently…but here is a general way I do things…..kinda depends on the situation but here it goes….
Home page: 1-3 broad keyphrases
Sub-Pages: 1 long tailed keyphrase per page
Url each page: key-phrase.html (no underscores)
Title: Key phrase at beginning with business name at end. Key Phrase from Business Name. (make it REAL….this is just an example)
Meta Description of each page: Key phrase towards the beginning of each sentence. 2 sentences would be great.
Meta Keyword: Isn’t read by bots but fill it out anyway.
content on page
At least 500 words….the more the better. Pepper the key phrase and/or LSI key phrase (read about it..this IS a big deal to me) per page at the beginning and end of each paragraph.
1 H1 Per Page with Key Phrase towards the beginning
Pepper in H2’s in between paragraphs with Key Phrase or LSI
Merchandising is ALWAYS above the fold…..SEO and content is below the fold.
The more content you have, the better.
Then comes the wonderful world of link building. Now if you want to become an authority, you "can" (and I’m not telling you to do this) but you CAN build a private blog network (you can read about that). Basically, you build many other sites that you control that point links back to your money site. Risky!!
I have a team build my links…..
This is general….and my take…..

Although I do lot’s of the on page SEO stuff you mentioned at the start, link building is something I don’t do as often as it seems I need to! I’m assuming link building needs to be consistent right?
Thanks J-Sin, In terms of scaling, it’s more aimed at finding a system that works with one site, then building a LOT of similar sites around that system. Hopefully, some will be much more profitable than others and $$ from these will be the bulk of the strategy.
Jamtal, DBZ was just an example. Reminiscing on old memories 😛
Btw, I watch + read naruto, best part of my Wednesday & Thursdays haha

If you pepper in a couple of links a day (or more), then you are showing that you ARE human and you are doing the best any human can.
When getting links, don’t forget to not get every link with exact key phrase back. Be Human….30% should be the actual domain name….20% grab LSI…..maybe 10% put the link back as Contact Us another 10% should be See More from Slappytheking….and the rest can be the exact.
Again…I’m sure others have a different formula and to be honest I never got into the exact weight of each (the noise out there is too much for me to take on ….I just mix them and all my clients are on the 1st page….
Hope that helps…..

Then I would start looking at their backlinks (which you can do with Aff Robot) and start figuring out where the get traffic.
I think what creating an authority site boils down to is just creating a really good site. If you have great content, people will naturally link to you. I’ve found doing that a better use of my time than constantly doing ‘link building’. Not that I don’t do any..I do, I just mean that if you have awesome content the links will kinda take care of themselves.
I would also mindmap/brainstorm the overall traffic picture. Ranking on the SE’s is great, but nowadays that’s just one part of getting ‘organic’ traffic. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Youtube, etc. all have their place in driving traffic, and they can refer a huge amount of traffic to your site in the right niche.
btw – I’m tempted to go see this in the theatre https://www.dragonballz.com/battleofgods/ DBZ is one of my fav anime series..I loved it. The original Japanese version is a little better than the Funimation English version, but it’s all good stuff.

By the way, if you haven’t seen it by now, you gotta watch TeamFourStar dubbed Dragon Ball, Abridged, it’s AWESOME!

I also think looking beyond Google is important too – and having a big Twitter or Facebook presence will only help your SEO.

Lol, I started youtubing this yesterday, haven’t laughed so much in ages haha
Man, I had this dodgy satelite channel dish thing that had a 24 hour DBZ channel. WAS THE BEST! Then it got taken down *sad moment*

This is how I earn most of my money, by authority sites. It’s also the reason I haven’t had much time for PPV.
Here are a few tips:
1. create the site with no expectation to earn money for 6 months.
2. Create fan page, tumbler page, Google Plus, Pinterest, Indugy, and ScoopIT
3. For every 1 post – share that on all 6 of these Tier 2 pages if possible. Each post should have a pic that you can share.
4. Once you have about 30 high quality posts, build any links to these Tier 2.
5. I almost never, ever link-build to my money site. They are way too important and I have gotten advice on how to from experts
and it’s still gone bad. Building links to your Tier 2 properties will serve you just fine for SEO purposes.
6. Write content that you would want to find if you were looking for your subject. Good content is extremely hard to find these days. For that
reason you will, over time get a lot of organic links built to your site. You won’t have to do any link building to your money site. However,
this takes time.
7. Pick a theme that is responsive so it can be seen on mobile.
8. When picking a topic, make sure it is easily monetized by multiple streams (clickbank, CPA offers, adsense, creating a list)
One of my steadiest earning sites is actually one of my lowest traffic. I built a panic attack website back in 2011.
I get only a few hundred visits per day, but usually convert 1 to the panic away program every 3 day or 4 days. That’s a recurring clickbank offer, so after awhile
the money adds up. I typically get 3 or 4 payments before users opt out. A few will just forget and i will get 10 payments and counting….. I set this up before I knew anything but I have a fan page, a pinterest a tumblr. You can see the super simple theme and the adsense CPC is really high and the ads are very targeted.
I also took the panic away automated letters, copied them into my own autoresponder so I have the list instead of the Panic away people.
I will typically try and find something that is genuinely useful or a good find for that audience and send an email, and have some type of anxiety med affiliate offer.
I have 13 sites all together. Here is my panic site. This was started back in 2011! My sites are much more sophisticated now but this shows you simple can work.

I haven’t watched it, but was looking at this comment about it on a forum.
It may give you some ideas.
"The biggest takeaway is that the most important ranking factors now are "social signals." Backlinks still matter, but not as much as before.
Specifically, he says Google+ likes matter the most, then Facebook likes, then Twitter and Pinterest. "

You kidding? DBZ is worldwide known 😛
Probably my first anime was DB. Then I watched DBZ, GT, got in to Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Devil May Cry, Initial D, Death Note (fkin epic), Code Geass… boy those days used to be good. You’d go to school, get back and watch some Anime.
No more time for that anymore unfortunately
