Hey what’s up guy’s been lurking around for around 2 yrs on the is forum , and have been an aff for around 5yrs & i live in orange county california if there’s any aff’s out here hit me up so we can chat business. So Have just lost a $x,xxx,xxx/per yr campaign due to competition, lost around 100k trying to compete so finally saying enough is enough (might come back to it when i have more profitable campaigns) I may post a campaign guide of how i built that campaign in the near future so we’ll see. Right now i want to cash in on some mobile offers, I’ve been testing like a mad man these past few weeks, and thought I might as well do a follow along.
Goal : 1k leads per day starting then eventually scale up to 10-19k/leads per day
So right now I’m at a loss, but just purchasing data , payout on apps is typically .20-$1+ cents depending on the offer. This particular on I’m getting .60 cents on.I’ve already started testing so I’ll post some results right now. I’m DLing this campaign for now , but will test several landers.
So right here in pic #1, Im showing all profitable (so far) groups of model and brand , and out of 6 ad copies, 1 got 85 % of the leads
And in in pic #2 from Most clicks , to least
There’s alot more clicks but couldnt fit it in the pic
so it looks like i got some weeding out to do , but it’s atleast good news conversion are coming through. Any tips are welcome, and feel free to PM if you have any questions for me , or just want to chat.
Will Update tomorrow with more results
You might want to upload via imgur, maybe its just me but images are resized to small to read on your attachments.
Good Catch, i uploaded them via url , hopefully you can see it now
Second Catch, the first and the second Image are the same.
I’m not sure how many different ad copies you used, but I would definitely test a bunch before you start cutting down your targeting.
A lot of affiliate seems to make the mistake of start cutting their targeting from day one. By the end of all their optimizations they are left with a dribble of traffic.
Interested to see how this turns out, keep us posted!
Yea i used about 6-7 ad copies and added around 5 more, i tested titles starting with "99% of ect., 98% of ect 97% of ect"
And "99% of ect" did by far the best , who knew a few numbers off would make such a difference, im also only comverting from 1 ad copy mainly that recieved majority of leads, around 85%. For right now im only cutting out targets that got pretty no leads with a decent amount of clicks, I’ll post an update later tho
Ok I would recommend creating diverse ad copies from the winner you have now. It seems like you only tested one angle if you only split test 99, 98, 97% etc.
Cool I’ll test more variations, I tested around 5-6 different angles and the 5 i added in were diversions of the main ad copy converting best for me. How many ad copies would you recommend testing when starting a new campaign?
On the last mobile app campaign I started I think I tested about 30 or so ads before I cut any targeting. I wanted to give myself the best shot at being profitable using broad targeting.
Okay so I added a new Traffic source in the mix , and results were surprising
So 1 target generate most of the leads, it’s really about 800 leads so far 200 short of my original goal, since my tracking was all jacked up this morning when it launched.
but the main target is generating an roi around 200% as my cpm rate is $5, so .005 per click epc is about .06-.07
I tested using a LP vs DLing, and it’s alot better with an LP. I’m getting about 10% ctr, which compared to web LP’s ive used is shit. direct linking epc is about .02-.03
-Throw some more money at it see what else is converting
-split test more LP ideas , including device call out script
-test other countries available for lower cpm rates and possible higher conversion rates
-try and get a payout bump
-contact leadbolt/Airpush and see if i can get a discounted rate for a larger buy
-test zero park redirect traffic
-improve LP ctr to 15%
Questions I have
-Anyone get cheaper rates doing a managed buy with leadbolt/Airpush?
-how effective is device call out script for you?
-any ideas of how to improve LP ct for mobile pages?
What tracking software do you use? I’m trying to learn mobile, but still don’t know much about tracking and how to track all the devices and carriers. Awesome you are hitting close to your goal already. Man you sure know how to hustle.
Good luck getting a discount with airpush or leadbolt. Best they can do is lower your min bid, but doesn’t mean you will get any traffic at that rate. I wouldn’t hold my breath with that step.
Have you mucked around with Airpush optimizer yet? Maybe start dropping your cpc on publishers that aren’t performing as good as others..
$0.0019 per click.
How can you do that ?
I see all mobile ad network start CPC at 0.05.
Im using the STM tracker
The new traffic source i have introduced doesn’t go by cpc, they go by CPM and i pay $5-6/cpm depending on competition, which averages out to around .005 cpv/cpc
I haven’t actually set up on AP yet, just Leadbolt, and my other source, I’m gonna set up on there today
That sux! well atleast it’s not my main source of traffic, I’ll be testing admob and inmobi today , I don’t really like inmobi’s interface tho but we’ll see
Side note *
not sure if it’s just me, but my posts don’t seem to be showing up in the follow along section, or on "new posts." can anyone advise? thanks
I think it works fine , I found your post from the new posts link.
Maybe it doesn’t show your own posts?
I see your posts too mate.
Alright cool must just be on my end , thanks guys
Not sure if someone addressed this but make sure to track Site Ids or placements if you can.
With mobile there are some placements that suck up a lot of your traffic but quality is garbage and conversions are even worse. Example is "Talking Tom" app which is a cat you tap and it makes noises and talks to you. It is made for babies, so imagine if you’re ads are running there.
What about your CTR ?
I’ll have you know Talking Tom is a brilliant app fun for all ages.
I never see my own posts either in new posts…
CTR is really screwed up right now due to yesterdays tracking, and today im noticing alot of click discrepancy, but my guess is around 50% judging by what prosper is recording compared to what the cpa network is , it’s redirect traffic so its a little different too
So was having some tracking issues today and didn’t run much traffic, I improved my LP ctr by 2% and epc rised .02 with an Alert box, next step is to apply the device callout script and see how well that performs. One of my partners is helping me set up imobitraxx, so hopefully this helps sort out some issues i was having with tracking. I hear it’s one of the best mobile trackers. Im break even , or barely profiting i guess you could say, not much of an update but i’ll keep you guy’s posted
great traffic source, but how can you get 0.005 cpc with $5-6/cpm,it’s impossible for me
I think you are misunderstanding.
If you pay $5 for 1,000 clicks ($5/CPM), then each click breaks down to be $0.005 because $5 divided by 1000 clicks = $0.005/click
It’s the same sorta pricing you pay on CPV, each pop costs $0.01, so… $0.01/click * 1000 clicks = $10/CPM
I still do not understand. A standard in internet advertising. CPM is mean cost per thousand impressions.
If I pay $5/CPM that mean I have 1,000 impressions.
I see many general Ad network give me impressions when I buy in CPM rate.
^^ What is your question exactly?
I just do not understand. He pay $5 to for 1,000 clicks or 1,000 impressions?
In my knowledge. 5$/CPM is mean pay $5 for 1,000 impressions. It’s not guarantee how many click I can get.
for example, I bid 5$/CPM.If I get 2 click in 1,000 impressions. That’s mean I pay $2.5 per click.
From what I read I assume he is paying $5 per 1,000 people that get sent to his lander. I’m guessing he is using a pop network or redirect network as opposed to your typical banner ad buy.
$5/CPM= $5/1,000 clicks ?if so,I got it
I don’t have pop network or redirect network in my dictionary. haha^^
CPM stands for Cost per Mille. In Latin, Mille means the number 1,000. CPM can refer to Cost per 1,000 impressions, or Cost per 1,000 visitors, or Cost-per 1,000 whatevers In this case, it looks like he is paying $5/CPM as $5 per 1,000 visitors.
it’s same $5 CPM, but he’s got 100% CTR
hey bro, sent you a message, add me on skype: Media Mob Assets
So been testing this offer like a mad man, and finally hit some profits turned it from 30-50% roi to break even to 40-50% roi
Here were yesterday day’s stats, as you can see the first LP got most of the leads only because it by default was the best converting LP, took me 9 LP’s to find out
Direct linking was best suited for this campaign lol, well not really direct linking more of a call out then it redirects type deal.
and here’s today so far, I’ll post what i end up with tonight
God imobitrax is a life saver. I also had broke my original goal of 1k leads yesterday by around 200, today shooting for 2k leads, but obviously want to scale to a lot more, just taking small steps first, and adding in traffic sources slowly.
Awesome progress bigeasy. When you test LPs do you make them completely different or just do slight tweaks on each one? Also can you give me any tips on LP formats?
may i know what kind of lander you using?
I rip them , and make them better from what i know has worked well in the past. Some I’ll completely get made, but most are ripped variations. As for slight tweaks, i’ll test 5-6 different ad copies of the same LP, nd have around 8-19 different landing pages. Also i add them in slowly, so i’ll start with 3 and see what work best, then set up 5-6 different variations of the one that is performing best, and if i see a some decent progress, Like a positive ROI or break even, I’ll began to add more Lp’s in to test against the working one. hope that helps
Nice job with 93% lander ctr
Okay so scaled up a bit, and tried buying as much data as i could allow for my budget, profit of around $200 is actually a good thing in my eyes as there is still a TON of fat to trim. I ended up with around 3k leads which is all well in good , but i want to be at a decent profit since rev means shit.
Here’s the stats
-test new LP variations and ideas
-eliminate negative targets (at least ones that look near impossible to get the roi up on)
-try similar offers in the same niche
-try and get cheaper rates for targets, and pay out bumps
Based on the offer you are running I would just focus on:
Improving your lander, your CR could be a lot higher.
Cutting shitty targets.
You aren’t going to get much give in terms of payout. It is also the best offer around for its niche in US atm.
Yeah I’m testing a ton of LP’s, im getting a batch of them made, would be nice to get 100% roi on the campaign as im looking at only around 35%
So added a another traffic source this morning , and it’s at a loss of -19% roi which isn’t too bad actually considering , i’ve only cut a few targets. My goal is to get it to 30% roi on this new source i added. The other are looking profitable now, so it’s time to optimize the shit out of it and milk it for as much as i can. My next step is to buy up some mobile inventory at site scout after, I’ve got each of the other sources up to par. I really want to blow this one out of the water, and it looks like i can really get those larger numbers going. This is my first mobile media buy , so i can’t complain about results so far. In the stats i post everything is a bit off , since imobi and my networks time settings are different. I ended up with roughly $500 profit give or take.
Here’s today stats
and here’s the other imobi stats
Next my goal is to
-optimize everything to the best of my abilities
-scale to new sources
-find some site scout placements to test
-test more landing variations (tested about 15 Lp’s and 2-3 variations each, only 2-3 are working really well)
Will report back, hopefully with better profits
Beautiful case study! Your CTR is crazy, any tips?
I try and get the user over to the offer as quick as possible, also after adding device callout , helped a lot
Are you automatically redirecting the user after some seconds or do they have to click a cta?
I use a CTA but a really strong CTA
Im thinking antivirus scanning lander with a "remove" button cta?
Nice! You’ve motivated me to spend all next week to increase my CTR, i’ve been slacking.
@bigeasy123 you serious your 90%+ ctrs are generated without an automatic redirect??
^^^ You can get those sort of CTR’s if you mimic device notifications
Be warned though, advertisers and ad networks DO NOT like this
Yup they , have to click a button , then get redirected to the offer, I tested like 25 Lp’s and finally got one working
gotcha, yeah im not actually mimicking any, i’m trying to stay as compliant as possible
I’ll update soon , been having tracking issues, with a particular network. I’m seeing my roi go upto 60 % now with one of my sources that started out in the negatives., but will update soon
AFAIK networks hate mimicking when you;re advertising in-app. For web they’re usually more laxed
Positive ROI in very short time. Thanks for great case study.
Okay was away for a bit , and finally have some time to update, literally been testing, optimizing, testing, optimizing, testing , optimizing over and over the past few days, and havent gotten much sleep. Just too much money out there on the table! So i’ve scaled the campaign to $1k/profit per day but due to me testing soo many traffic sources, it’s eating up my budget’s for the campaigns that are working. I don’t really count it as a loss since the other traffic networks I’m testing have plenty of profitable targets and i just need to optimize some more
my strategy for optimization on RON.
I make 2 separate campaigns
– 1 campaign for all targets that are Profitable
– 1 campaign for RON which i pull profitable targets from and add them into the "Profit" campaign and remove from the RON campaign
I do this in order to allow targets that get maybe 1-2 conversions on like 100 impressions or less a chance to "deem themselves worthy"
i usually ditch a target that has around 800-1900 impressions with 0 leads (I wouldn’t recommend this unless you know what your offer should convert at to be profitable)
I’ve pretty much maxed my payouts out, all there is left is to continue optimizing Lp’s, reduce click costs, scale out to other countries. I know your not really suppose to hit other countries this fast , but i took a leap of faith and scaled out to some really "bizzare" countries and made isntant profits, without even having to cut any targets out yet, one of my intl campaigns has 180% roi , low spend but still profitable. I was running into prob this week as well , where i kept hitting cap on my budget and had to send some wires out which took forever to reach the networks, so there is still a bunch of delays in traffic that i’m waiting on.
Anyway i would post some earnings screens but i empty’d my imobitrax because it was cooked , couldn’t pull reports. But I’ll post one of today so far
Keep in mind i only have half the traffic sources running at the moment , so rev is a bit down today as well as profit. Still got around 6 hours left in the day
also , i just started on a new campaign on a cpa basis that i should be able to do around 10k installs per day on , giving me roughly $500/day profit added into the profit pool , will post more up on that as well.
Great progress. Your cpc must be fractions of a penny since your epc is 1 cent. How do you get your traffic so cheap?
thanks, I pay a fairly cheap cpm, and convert enough leads per/cpm to make it work
Nice progress dude, killin it. In your lander testing what have you found makes the bigger difference, new angles/copy or trying entirely new landers with different functions?
I try and use every Landing page i come across and split it up into new angles, maybe change some buttons around , and make it better. Most people will just rip an LP and run it, I’d highly suggest not doing that and just change some text around, colors, buttons ext, and make it your own. Also i use imobitrax so it’s super easy to split test LP’s. I’ve found with the lp’s i’ve tested is to make sure your load speeds are quick as shit, and get your user in a mind set of urgency
Great progress mate, good to see you hitting $1k/day that soon.
Keep us updated when you hit the $2k / day mark.
I’ll hit that today hopefully! scaled up nicely , and still got more to go, can’t wait to see how far this campaign can go , I’ll keep you posted
So after some optimizations, sleepless nights, constant testing, good parnters, great AM’s, and some money invested here’s my earnings as of today which is around $2200/profit
Network stats , I’m posting this one to show i don’t just run 1 offer, i diversify which ALL aff’s should be doing , don’t make the huge mistake i did and leave it all up to 1 campaign
Things I’ve learned from this campaign
-ABT (Always Be Testing) it could be the "smallest" thing that will spike your conversions insanely high, for me it was 1 word lol
-Run as much data as your budget allows, and optimize as you go. just be sure to not cut targets, LP’s, and ads too fast
-Parnters are priceless
-track with the latest software that allows you to test efficiently
-test new offers as soon as your profitable
-scale to different countries if you can
-Test more offers
-optimize ALOT more , this campaign has ALOT of red targets still that can be cut
-find more traffic sources
I won’t be updating as much , but if something cool happens i’ll be sure to let you guy’s know, also if you going to ASW inbox me so we can kick it!
I see $5k/day coming.
Hell Yea, I’m going for 20k/day, thats the goal!
damn, just read all the post.
i wish i could get the job done just like you .
gonna go thru again tho.
for "strong" CTA….what does it mean? Incentive? or …
are you working alone and setup so many campaigns? and having chats with partners on advising each other?
Fuck man nice, this is one of the best follow alongs ever on STM!
How many partners do you work with?
Here is what I got out of this thread besides the detail of optimization on how to succeed as an affiliate.
– Ability to view money as a way to gather data
– Persistence and focus on making something work
– Acting on all the great advice on this forum
I Have a funny story that happened recently that relates to this — my assistant made a mistake and set $1 max bid CPC, lets just say we blew over $600 bucks in 2 minutes. She was crying from the mistake, it was a lesson to pay attention, but the data we got was HUGE. I used it to turn the -600 into positive daily 30-40% ROI. Money = DATA, DATA = $$$$ PROFIT $$$$
That is crazy! Kudos on turning the loss into a big positive!
wtf how did I miss this thread, this is GIANT KILLING!!!
Any updates on this follow along?
Something probably went bigtime
Heh, yeah, one of the most common causes of Follow-Alongs going quiet – something starts working massively and the person writing them gets too busy to post for a while
I ran into a couple of people whose follow-alongs had gone quiet for just that reason in BKK!
I was just wondering which script you use for calling out the handsets, i would love to splittest my script against another one since i’m not getting the results i hoped on.
Handsetdetection works well.
Another reason is it gets overwhelming answering to all the PM, skype, facebook requests and messages of people asking for help (or exact infos) either in a nice or not-so-nice (insisting) manner , I know I faced this when I did my facebook FA last year!
Anyway, I hope bigeasy is still rocking the s*it out of mobile, very good job on this FA
I would like to know what does 99% of ect, 98% of ect, 97% of ect mean? I tried Google but got nothing that seems to fit. Sorry for the questions. I am trying to be a well rounded AM so anything i can learn and right down is helpful.
What he means by that is that his ad copies were saying like "99% of Android users use this antivirus"
