Hey guys, I figured I’d write a quick intro post since I finally joined the STM forum.
I’m new here, but have been around the industry for awhile. I made my first affiliate commissions back in 2001 and have been a full time affiliate since 2008.
My background however has been mainly in SEO and PPC. I’ve had my ups and downs and got complacent. Last year I really haven’t did a whole lot in affiliate marketing. I guess I just got tired of dealing with all the SEO stuff. You make a change and have no idea if it’s going to work for awhile. Maybe I’m just growing more impatient as I age (still in my early 30s), but I love the instant data you get from paid traffic.
For the past year I’ve ventured into other things such as writing a couple of books in the craft beer industry (my other passion). They don’t make a whole ton of money, but it’s cool to go into most bookstores and see my books on the shelves.
Anyways, while I’ve been contemplating starting my own brewery, my common sense has kicked in and I’ve realized that would be dumb. I love the freedom I have that I would lose if I opened the brewery. Maybe I’ll be part owner some day.
But for now I’m jumping full on into Facebook advertising. The past few months I’ve been building up fan pages, but want to scale faster. Next week I’ll start up a follow along to keep myself accountable (to busy working on landing pages, creating ads, searching for images, and studying what other people are doing to start up a good follow along.) Will get it rolling otherwise.
I recognize many people in here from past industry events. I’ve been going to Affiliate Summit for the past 5 years, but am excited to connect with new people through these forums.
I’m also considering starting or joining an affiliate mastermind of Facebook advertisers, so let me know if you have one, or interested in getting one going.
Anyways, that’s my welcome.
Yo.. welcome back to affiliate marketing. I just got back into it just a few months ago
your username looks familiar.. where have I seen you around?
Hey Jasper, thanks. Did you used to be part of Tracking202? I think I remember. I’ve been around, just not much on forums. Was on IMGrind for awhile but moved over here.
I used to do some blogging and was on affbuzz for awhile. Might have seen me there.
I used to do the meetup202 events in LA. I’m good friends with the tracking202 crew.
I’ve seen you around.. good to have you here!
So what’s the trick? Where do I sign up? Take my moniez! lulz
That’s the beauty of online marketing. There is never any trick but I’ll gladly take your money. 🙂
Welcome mate! What was your blog?
Hello and welcome to STM!
Looking forward to seeing how you get on. Let me know if you have any trouble finding info on here – either by PM or post – and I’ll leap in to point you in the right direction. I know the amount of posts here can be pretty overwhelming…
LoganThompson.me – Someday I might update it.
Thanks Caurmen. I’ve been reading tons of posts. You have some fantastic ones you’ve created. Thanks.
Welcome to the site.
Good to see more experienced people in the industry joining up. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of value here
Hey drumminlogan nice to meet you and welcome to the forums.
Just curious, you said you came from the IMGrind forums. I’ve been interested in checking this forum out for a while now. I frequent Rucks blog and he gives a lot of value in his guides and posts. Ironically one of his guides actually led me to join STM. What’s your opinion on the forum quality? Is it worth joining for a couple months?
Hey clubdrock. IMGrind is a pretty quality forum. Especially if you’re into mobile. It seems over there most of the info is mobile. The forum itself didn’t seem as active to me as STM, but there is definitely a lot of quality info to read through. Ruck and Ryan are two smart dudes and there is plenty of nuggets of info that make the membership worth it. Best of luck!
I would be interested in the FB Mastermind group… with the reservation that I’m a newbie to all this (but a damn hard worker!).
