1. If a conversion happens a day or two after the original click, it will show up in the stats for the original click’s day, not the day the conversion happened. This could lead to me missing conversions unless I constantly checked each affiliate network.
2. I’ve had a few conversions post to Tracking202 which never were credited in the affiliate network. I wanted a log of all postbacks received (something more elegant than the httpd log)
So I’ve modified Tracking202 to record all postbacks/pixel firings, and then created a view to display the log of them. I’ve also created what I call "conversion spy" which will act like the normal click spy except for conversions. It’ll play a sound when you get a new conversion.
The resources/tools I used were just Tracking202 itself, I reused a lot of the code for the click spy and added in what I needed to achieve the additional functionality that I wanted to.
My target audience is other affiliate marketers, specifically ones using Tracking202.
I’m not sure how I plan on selling it yet. I’m not sure if I can even sell it yet. I’ll probably have to bug ctrtard about how he deals with Tracking202’s licensing and selling LandingPageGenius.
The addon is mostly complete, there are a few finishing touches I need to add to it to make it "consumer ready" as well as adding in a few configuration options (ie to disable the sound).
I’ll post some screenshots and maybe a demo video of it once I finish what needs to be done.
The challenges I face are:
1. Figuring out if I can sell this
2. Figuring out how to protect my code / license the code and figuring out if I can encode some of the pages that borrow Tracking202 code (I don’t think I can)
3. Figuring out how I want to sell this. I might do it as a WSO, but I’ll probably just create a website for it.
4. Figuring out an elegant way to have the user install this modification (it modifies quite a few Tracking202 files). As long as the user isn’t using any other Tracking202 modifications (like LPG) they could just upload the new files, but if they are using modifications, I’ll probably need to create an installer or an install guide.
Paging ctrtard for advice
I’ve added a poll to this thread. If you’d be interested in an addon like this, please vote in the poll so I can gauge what to price it at.
Here’s a quick screenshot of the spy mode. The row highlighted in green was a new row since the last refresh, so it generated a sound and stands out so you can see what’s new:

I know CTRTard used Ioncube to encode LPG, that could work for you with something like this also…but makes a pain in the ass for you to sell it. Realistically at the price level I think you would be able to grab for this, that might not make it worth its while.
A fun customization to ad to this, I think someone mentioned it in CTRTards app thread, would be to configure a text reporting feature. This can be done really easily by just emailing a message to a users phone number that would arrive as a text. Haha that beats refreshing stats.

I can’t ioncube encode any of the pages that use Tracking202’s code due to their license, so what I’ll have to do if I go that route is to move some of my functions into a separate file which I’ll then encode.
Yeah an SMS when a conversion happens would be easy to do as well, but I wouldn’t want to step on ctrtard’s toes with his app.

Regarding Prosper202 licensing and encoding…
When I wrote the add-on necessary for LPG I contacted Nana first. He told me any modification needed to be open source. So that’s what I did.
The add-on itself is 100% open source. While LPG itself (code that does not physically interact or rely on P202 to function) is not. It is encoded.
AFAIK the only way to do the mod you’re thinking about doing AND observing the P202 license is to make a completely separate application. That means you can’t use any P202 code, functions, etc. whatsoever. That also means you won’t be able to do nice integration (as in add-to menus, etc.) because your code would "touch" the existing P202 code.
You’re application would have to on it’s own connect to the database, grab the data it needed directly from MySQL and then work like that. It would have to be in a separate URL that’s not embedded or connected to P202 code itself. I think if you did that, you’d be OK. However, your end product would suffer in terms of being integrated, etc. But you could definitely use this method for the "conversion spy" if you really wanted to.
I’ve written quite a few mods for P202 and given them away for free. A few of them were included in the last release of P202. Once you release mods for open source, your code is open source too 😉

Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be able to sell it since it’s so intertwined with the T202 code. I’ll probably give it away for free in exchange for a subscription to an email list. Or maybe I can come up with something else I can actually sell that I can then cross-promote with this.
Yeah SMSs are real easy when you use the carrier’s email gateway. But that’s so oldschool, the modern way would be a GCM push notification in an awesomely written Android app
I figured anything using the T202 code would need to be open-source, and the CC license it’s released under is non-commercial, so I’m pretty sure selling this is out. I may just release it free to generate a name for myself in the industry (although if you Google me you’ll already find some fun stuff).
That’s a good point, maybe if I release it for free it could one day be integrated into T202, that’d be a cool accomplishment. Although it hasn’t been updated since 2010.. seems like Nana is focused on the paid product.
As far as progress goes, I’ve made a few changes to the code, fixed a few bugs, and reworked a few things. Since I’m using this myself daily I’m getting a good idea of what I want out of it and am constantly tinkering with the way it works. I need to spend the next few days thinking of something else I can cross-promote with this.

This thread didn’t get too in-depth during the contest period, but I’ll update it with the information about the mod once I have it packed up and ready for release.
